  7. Please read the following license rules before using the sound kit.

The STORM Sound Kit is shareware. In addition to the usual shareware fee (of US$20), you have to pay a 5% royalty on any commercial or shareware program that uses the kit. If this seems unreasonable, you can try to negotiate a better deal (this will significantly change the basic shareware fee as well). The royalty is calculated from the price of the end-product, so if you have a shareware program that costs $5, the royalty is 25 cents.

  12. If your program is free (in the sense that it doesn't cost anything), you only pay the shareware fee. The Sound Kit is not "free software" in the Free Software Foundation sense.

  14. The sound kit can be distributed as long as the documentation and this message are kept intact. You are not allowed to removed this shareware notice from any sound kit source files that you might give to others.

  17. The STORM Sound Kit is provided as is without any warranty. There is no way to guarantee that it works as the documentation indicates, but since you have access to the source code, you have (at least in theory) the possibility of correcting problems yourself.

The sound kit has been tested on several different hardware configurations and has been found to work. I have heard of problems with MacPluses, but these were somehow related to the DoInits routine that in itself is not part of the sound kit, but is used in the sample application. As far as I know, the current incarnation of the sound kit works only with Think C 5.0. The changes from the 4.0 version are minor, so if you don't have version 5.0, either upgrade your compiler or try to reverse the changes so that the kit compiles.

  29. Cash is preferred, although I will try to arrange for a convenient way to cash checks, if I get a lot of them. Royalties should be paid every six months, but you can delay payment up to two year intervals, if the total accumulated amount is less than $20.
